INTRODUCING OUR SPEAKERS
Hello there,
We at SGGS are feeling the heat of the coming conference and we truly hope that you will send in your registration forms as soon as possible to assure a place for your school.
A line-up of speakers has been confirmed and amongst them are:
Datin Mina Cheah-Foong (Plenary Session 2 Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Challenges of Women Entrepreneurs)
Datin Mina Cheah-Foong is no stranger when it comes to the retail world here. The Managing Director of Rampai-Niaga, the sole franchise holder of The Body Shop in West Malaysia, has come a long way since its humble opening of the first store back in 1984. Today, The Body has over 61 stores within the peninsula with five outlets in Vietnam and is continuing to grow thanks to its overwhelming demand. Perhaps what makes this business different from the rest is the woman behind the organisation who is not afraid to call for social change in order for a positive impact on the planet and the people in it. Pioneering the work of corporate social responsibility here before it was even a common term, Datin Mina follows in the footsteps of her idol, the late Anita Roddick, founder of The Body Shop, and continues to make a difference in the work she does through long term NGO partners and passionately champions for causes she believes in.

“We all want to make a difference and be
more than the sum total of our individual lives. We can each take individual
action; reduce, reuse and recycle and that can be the first step to making that
change. At The Body Shop, we constantly work with
NGO partners in order to bring a positive impact in the community we live in,
be it protecting the planet, empowering women or simply calling for social
change. Having always believed in making profits with principles, we believe
that you can shop wisely and use the power of your wallet to make that change a
reality. Participate in action because just saying the words alone is not
enough. We do this not because it
is fashionable, but to us, it is the only way.”
Jazz Tan (Plenary Session 2 Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Challenges of Women Entrepreneurs)
Hi ! My name is Jazz Tan and I am the director
of PenangYouth.com, owner of a youth development, marketing and branding
company. So what is the pitch? I am a 22-years old young entrepreneur who
dreams BIG and believe in the power of youth. Pledge to bring our clients'
value and in the mean time engage young people with youth development projects.
Its simple, we engage with 3 bodies. They are the brands who wants to make a
change in the society while getting their brand name out there, then we have
the government agencies who lend a support ground for the young people and
finally the youth themselves who are thirst for knowledge and change.
I have been running the Penang Largest Youth
Carnival (known as Youth Jam) for 3 years in a row now. We have expanded from 7
events in Youth Jam to 30 events. All these packaged programs are sponsored and
specially customized in regards of the brands that sponsored them.
We have over 20,000 young active members
registered with PenangYouth.com and Youth Jam itself generated over 70,000
views and RM50,000 worth of advertising campaigns around Malaysia. Just in
3years time, we have established working with major telco companies such as
DiGi Telecommunication, Maxis, Telecom Malaysia and other world leading brands
like Sony Malaysia, Astro, Pioneer and Prudential. In short, we have worked
with almost 100brands.
I strongly believe that age is not an obstacle
for young people to do big things. I believe that every young individual should
have a mindset that they have what it takes to go global !
So, there you are! More photos and profiles of our speakers awaits your attention. We assure you that this conference will definitely be a beneficial one!
